About Us
LEBEN produces hydraulic industrial shock absorbers, vibration absorbers, buffers, deformation tubes, hydrostatic and viscoelastic shock absorbers as well as custom shock absorbers according to individual customer requirements.
LEBEN was founded in 1967. In the early years, the family-owned company developed, among other things, slope grooming vehicles for ski runs. Since 1980, we have been developing and manufacturing shock reduction elements and vibration absorbers under our trademark Compenser®. More than 50 years of successful customer relationships around the globe and the continuous development of our products for a wide variety of applications confirm our strength and competence in the field of Damping Technology.

LEBEN-Dämpfungstechnik prevailed in the scientific selection process and is among the Top Innovators for the first time. The company is based in the Damping Technology and spring technology sector (custom machine design). The company has made a name for itself particularly in the field of gas-hydraulic buffers.
Industrial shock absorber calculation
Our damping elements are calculated in compliance with VDI Guideline VDI 2061 “Components for reducing shock effects”. Our products comply with the relevant provisions of the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
We are certified to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015, a recognition of our quality policy.
Industrial shock absorber product range
To meet the diverse application areas of Damping Technology, we offer various types of shock absorbers, including: gas-hydraulic heavy-duty shock absorbers, emergency shock absorbers as end stops (emergency stop in end position), operationally compressed shock absorbers and irreversible shock absorbers.
For use in extreme high or low temperatures, we offer our damping medium Compensol®.

Quality assurance in Damping Technology
Each of our products undergoes a thorough inspection before delivery, including, among other things, evaluation of the static characteristic curve.
Depending on requirements, various inspection certificates can be provided (2.1 works certificate, 3.1 inspection certificate, measurement report, coating thickness report for painting, and much more).

LEBEN-Dämpfungstechnik GmbH manufactures product-specific parts in-house in accordance with customer requirements. We also maintain reliable relationships with our long-standing local suppliers, whom we regard as an extended workbench.
Vertical integration
For machining, LEBEN-Dämpfungstechnik GmbH relies on various CNC machining centers, including renowned manufacturers such as TRAUB, EMCO, and WFL.

Validation of Damping Technology
New developments can usually be tested in-house dynamically, statically and under continuous load. For very high energy absorption, tests for our products are carried out at recognised institutes such as TÜV Süd GmbH.

Customer orientation – “Damping Technology customised”
Increasing demands on machines, vehicles and the support structure of production facilities with regard to the parameters of speed and mass of the objects lead to major deceleration, damping and vibration issues. The resulting magnitudes of load data (frequency and max. amplitude) in many cases exceed the capabilities of standard shock absorbers used as standard. Space constraints or missing connection options for existing systems also require modifications to the standard range.
Thanks to many years of experience and state-of-the-art methods in design and manufacturing, we have a high degree of flexibility and can therefore accommodate special customer requirements even for small quantities.
Design of custom shock absorbers or vibration absorbers
Through state-of-the-art design and manufacturing processes, LEBEN-Dämpfungstechnik GmbH possesses a high dimension of flexibility and is therefore able to respond to special customer requests even for small quantities. “constructively”. The reaction force or deceleration curve can be realized according to requirements using an individual throttling principle.
The damping elements are designed in CAD. We are happy to provide our customers with the requested CAD dimension drawings and documents in the desired data formats.
Manufacturing of Damping Technology
Our product-specific parts are manufactured exclusively in Germany. We maintain close relationships with our qualified and audited suppliers. In-house, machining is carried out with the highest accuracy, and the assembly of the shock-reduction elements and their testing are performed on partly in-house-developed test devices and test machines.
Corresponding test certificates are issued on request.
Research and development in the field of custom shock absorbers and custom vibration absorbers
Continuous development of our series-produced COMPENSER® is a matter of course.
Upon customer request, specific damping elements are developed for the respective application area. You can find an insight into this under the section Special dampers.
Our innovative strength and expertise are reflected in the numerous patents registered worldwide by LEBEN-Dämpfungstechnik GmbH.
In the field of Damping Technology, we are constantly researching the optimal implementation of the flow behavior of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids in shock-reducing elements and vibration absorbers.
In the search for hydraulic working fluids with significantly improved properties, a high-viscosity, paste-like dispersion was developed.
Our history
1967
Foundation
Leben-Dämpfungstechnik GmbH was founded in November 1967 as an engineering office with its own sales organisation, originally as “Leben & Co GmbH”. At that time, the development of snow groomers for ski slopes was the main focus. Their production was licensed out.
1990
Start of Damping Technology
In January 1990, the Damping Technology division was purchased from AROS GmbH. Suppliers took over the production of individual parts, and assembly was carried out by Kögel in Schwabsoien.
2003
Relocation
After Kögel moved into a new company building in 1999, the vacated premises and the entire assembly department were taken over by Leben-Dämpfungstechnik GmbH. However, these premises soon proved insufficient, and a new building was planned, which was ready for occupancy in 2003.
2007
Anniversary: 40 years of LEBEN
As early as 2007, the production area was expanded by 50% and put into operation in time for the 40th anniversary of Leben-Dämpfungstechnik GmbH.
2014
Extension
Completion of the second extension with 460 m² of storage space!

2019
Change of company name
Change of company name from “Leben & Co GmbH” to “Leben-Dämpfungstechnik GmbH”
2019
New building
In 2019, another hall was added, bringing the total usable area to 3,500 m² of office space, production and storage areas. This increased the production area by a further 50% and was equipped with state-of-the-art technology. This includes, among other things, the WFL M40, a multifunctional turning, drilling & milling centre for complete machining of complex chuck and shaft parts up to a swing diameter of 670 mm and a distance between centres of 4,500 mm.
