COMPENSER® Technology
LEBEN produces shock reduction elements for Damping Technology using state-of-the-art technology.
Under the designation COMPENSER®, we offer a wide range of shock and vibration absorbers. In the event of a shock or vibration (+/- direction), the aim is to reduce displacement, force, or deceleration by converting impact energy (kinetic energy) into heat or deformation energy.
This is achieved through:
- hydraulic flow resistance by throttling liquids,
- elastic deformation,
- friction between solid bodies,
- or plastic deformation.
Shock reduction elements are differentiated into:
- fixed-setting reversible hydraulic shock reduction elements for safety applications with single or infrequent shock loads (emergency buffers), e.g., in crane systems, high rise storage facilities, rail buffers, and couplings in railways and structures for earthquake protection.
- fixed-setting reversible hydraulic shock reduction elements for safety applications with multiple shock loads (“operational buffer”), e.g., in automation technology, the piston rod is cyclically approached and compressed to reach the end position.
- fixed-setting non-reversible plastically deformable crash elements for single shock loads.
- universally adjustable hydraulic shock reduction elements for regular shock loads, e.g., in production machinery and handling equipment.
The “characteristic curve,” i.e., the reaction force or deceleration profile, can be realized according to requirements using an individual throttling principle.
This characteristic curve can be optimized for one or more impact scenarios; the reaction forces are then optimal at every speed.
For shock and vibration absorbers, our various damping media are available under the designation COMPENSOL®, depending on the specific need: for use in temperature-controlled indoor environments up to extreme high or low temperatures with low to high viscosity properties.
For special applications, e.g., temperatures above +80° C or below -30° C, as well as for emergency buffers of the “S-series” type of design, we can, upon request, use a thixotropic, paste-like, viscoplastic dispersion as the damping medium. This medium solidifies into a seemingly solid mass at rest and only becomes uniformly highly fluid under the influence of force. When the load ends, it returns to its seemingly solid original state. Further information on our COMPENSOL® damping medium is available here.
The calculation of our shock reduction elements is carried out in accordance with VDI Guideline VDI 2061 “Components for the Reduction of Shock Effects”.
