Buffer stop (fixed buffer stop & braking buffer stop) – railway technology

Our solution:

End stop as a fixed buffer stop:

With a fixed buffer stop, the entire energy is absorbed by one buffer or several buffers mounted in parallel (COMPENSER®) . Two types of Damping Technology are suitable for this:

A) COMPENSER® of the S series are integrated into the buffer stop as a hydraulic industrial shock absorber acting as a decelerating end stop. The energy to be absorbed is converted into heat via the damping medium.
The buffers can be connected directly to the buffer stop via a flange or tube-in-tube design.
Alternatively, an installation tube can be used to integrate the buffer into a concrete block (optional: with guide rod and crossbeam / transverse yoke,
and anti-climber protection (“Anti-Climber”) in accordance with DIN EN 12663-1).
Depending on customer requirements, the buffers are equipped with the optimal installation system.

B) COMPENSER® of the CE series are integrated into the buffer stop as a deformation tube (also known as a crash element) acting as a decelerating end stop. The energy to be absorbed is converted by means of the deformation work of the expanding deformation tube.

End stop as a braking buffer stop:

With a braking buffer stop, the buffer absorbs the impact and, if the maximum defined buffer force is exceeded, accelerates the braking buffer stop. The braking buffer stop converts the remaining energy via friction elements on the rail until the vehicle comes to a standstill.

Benefit:
In the event of an impact, impermissibly high reaction forces or deceleration are avoided, and no damage occurs to the railcar or the downstream wagons.
