Lock gate

Visco-elastic shock absorber or hydraulic shock absorber as an end stop in front of the lock gate:

Problem:
Lock gates must be protected against damage caused by approaching ships.

Solution:
A catch rope or buffer beam is installed in front of the lock gate which, in combination with a visco-elastic or hydraulic shock absorber, absorbs the impact energy of an unbraked approaching ship. These shock absorbers for locks are manufactured according to the specific requirements (mounting geometry & load data) of the respective ship lock.

Benefit:
Lock gates can no longer be rammed by freighters, tankers or cruise ships. This helps prevent damage to the ship, the lock gate, and personal injury.
